The Exploration Place

Kansas’ premier science center, Exploration Place, is a place that inspires a deeper interest in science and technology through creative, fun experiences for families. Exploration Place opened in 2000 and has continued to receive support from admissions, memberships, voluntary contributions from the public, and local businesses and foundations. There are always activities at Exploration Place for the whole family! 

Centrally located in downtown Wichita, Exploration Place is easy to get to, and parking is free. Exhibits include Health Inside Out, Design Build Fly, Drone-tography, Where Kids Rule, Kansas Kids Connect, Explore Kansas, Kansas in a Miniature, and many more! Traveling exhibits rotate throughout the year and include memorable adventures such as Thomas the Train, Arctic Adventure, and Dogs! A Science Tail. Families can also enjoy live science shows or fantastic cinematic masterpieces in the Dome Theater. 

Memberships are available, and admission is free for children ages two and under. Located at 300 N. McLean Blvd., Wichita, KS 67203, The Exploration Place offers incredible experiences for the whole family!

Museum of World Treasures

Families can enjoy a journey through time at the Museum of World Treasures in Wichita. History comes alive through interactive exhibits about dinosaurs, ancient Egyptians, past presidents, World Wars, and more. This museum is a place where children of all ages can come to be educated and entertained!

Current exhibits include real documents, small stories, a fossil gallery, sea creatures of the plains, rocks and minerals, Cenozoic era, Civil War, Vietnam War, Korean War, World War 1, World War II, Hall of Presidents, Berlin Wall, Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt, Royal Art of Asia, and many more. 

Children 3 and under can enjoy the museum for free. Memberships are available (and pay for themselves in just 3-4 visits!). Special events at the Museum of World Treasures include birthday parties, summer camps, Midnight at the Museum Camp-Ins, Museum Escape, and Scavenger Hunt.

The Alley

The Alley is a place where the whole family can join in on the fun! From 32 bowling lanes to an arcade to a full sports bar, there is something for kids and parents alike at The Alley in Wichita. 

The bowling alley, Bowlero, features black lights, soft lounge seating, giant HD movie walls, and great music. The deluxe arcade is a great spot to find state-of-the-art video games as well as beloved classics. From Jurassic Park to Pac-Man, there are games the whole family can enjoy.
